Prof. C.L. Khetrapal is one of the leading scientists working in the field of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). This area of research is important not only from the point of view of basic and applied research in Physical/Chemical Sciences but also has enormous applications in biological, medical and behavioral sciences. Prof. Khetrapal has played a prime role in spreading NMR culture in the country. His research work has given him international recognition as seen from the fact that he has been a plenary and key note speaker in major International Conferences. His contributions on NMR in liquid crystals have literally opened new avenues of research.  He has a very large Science Citation Index and has over 250 publications and several reviews, books, chapters in books and monographs; two of his publications became Citation Classics in 1983 and 1991. He has 3 major contributions in the Encyclopedia of NMR published in 1995-96 by John Wiley and Sons, to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the discovery of NMR.
